Pro-Life From Start to Finish

"Human life begins at the very moment of conception; human life dies when the soul leaves the body at natural death. God is the origin, the author, the sustainer, and the only one who can determine the actual moment that each and every human person dies. These are the first principles, on a human and biological …"

Six Ways to Live a Joyful Life from St. John Bosco

"If there’s one undeniable fact about human nature, it’s that we all want to be happy. We crave joy—infinite, endless joy. The problem is, we often look for happiness in all the wrong places, leaving ourselves frustrated and miserable. The plethora of wildly popular self-help books shows that we are hungry for guidance on how to live well. …"

St. John Bosco:

“When deep sleep falls upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction” (Job 7:14). God has revealed things to men in dreams throughout time. In the Bible we read many stories of how God spoke to His people through dreams. He revealed to Joseph that Mary was …

Manual for Marian Devotion

"The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, is a Dominican Community of Women Religious based in Ann Arbor, Michigan and founded in 1997 to spread the witness of Religious Life in accord with Pope St. John Paul II's vision for the New Evangelization. Through the Sisters’ profession of the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, along with a contemplative emphasis on Eucharistic adoration and Marian devotion, the Community exists for the salvation of souls and the building up of the Church throughout the world. As Dominicans, the Sisters' primary apostolate, the education and formation of young people from pre-kindergarten through college, also reaches out to the modern culture with a variety of new forms of evangelization including the employment of a wide variety of media activities. The Community’s average age is 30 years old, and it has grown from its original four Foundresses to over 130 Sisters in its 20 year existence."

The New Exodus

No automatic alt text available.

"In the New Testament era, the "pillar of fire" is the presence of our Eucharistic Lord. In this painting, ominous storm clouds gather and an army approaches, intent on destroying the children of the new covenant. The people are in confusion and terror, but a priest lifts high a monstrance in which the Body of Christ is exposed, the Lord rallying to Himself all those who hunger for Truth. Soon the Light will scatter the darkness, divide the waters, and open an impossible path to the promised land of Paradise."

Michael D.O'Brien commentary on the painting The New Exodus

"Jesus is going to lead His people into the "promised land"—an Era of Peace where the Covenant people of God will rest from their labors. Indeed, that Pillar of Fire is the burning Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Eucharist. His Mother, Mary, is like the Pillar of Cloud which has been leading this little remnant of the Church out of the night of sin during the past 40 years. But as the Dawn approaches, we are to Look To The East, for the Pillar of Fire is rising to lead us to Victory. We, like the Israelites, are to smash our idols, to simplify our lives so that we may travel lightly, to fix our eyes upon the Cross, and place our trust completely in God. Only in this way will we be able to make the journey.." ~ Mark Mallett

"America has a strong tradition of respect for the individual, for human dignity and human rights. I gladly acknowledged this during my previous visit to the United States in 1987 and I would like to repeat today the hope I expressed on that occasion: "America, you are beautiful and blessed in so many ways ... But your best beauty and your richest blessing is found in the human person: in each man, woman and child, in every immigrant, in every native-born son and daughter ... The ultimate test of your greatness is the way you treat every human being, but especially the weakest and most defenseless ones. The best traditions of your land presume respect for those who cannot defend themselves. If you want equal justice for all, and true freedom and lasting peace, then, America, defend life! All the great causes that are yours today will have meaning only to the extent that you guarantee the right to life and protect the human person."'

"New Year’s observances blend recollections of the past, celebrations in the present, and anticipation of the future. For a variety of reasons, I’m feeling nostalgic this year.
