Christ is Our Peace

"A quiet mind is the effect of strong faith. It is not a mere byproduct of tranquil times. The awareness of Christ's presence in our life will be the road to a more profound freedom from disturbance. Christ is our peace, not in the future but in the present, not held back but freely given, not hoped for, but obtained! Like the apostles in the boat, we need to turn to Jesus when storms rage." ~ Michael Casey based on a text from Saint Bernard of Clairvaux

"...we must [first] find the courage to enter into the desert of our loneliness and to change it by gentle and persistent efforts into a garden of solitude.. ..it it is the movement from the restless senses to the restful spirit, from the outward-reaching cravings to the inward-reaching search, from the fearful clinging to the fearless play.” ~ Henri J.M. Nouwen
